Local Policy Examples

(why write your own from scratch??)

Moderate Sedation Policy Example:

The draft policy example we offer is one in which the moderate sedation requirements of VHA Directive 2006-023 (Moderate Sedation by Non-Anesthesia Providers) have been incorporated in a Sedation and Anesthesia Care policy.  As noted below, since 2001 JCAHO has required each facility to have a Sedation and Anesthesia Care policy.  The new Moderate Sedation Directive allows the requirements of the Directive to be incorporated into the facilities overall Sedation and Anesthesia Care policy.

Scope of Services Statements/Policies:

Every VA Anesthesia Service should have a scope of services statement to help define the provision of anesthesia at your facility.  Ususally this will be written and approved as a policy.  Below are some examples that have been submitted.
